Hi, my name is Candace and I have a coat obsession. I briefly spoke about my growing love for coats HERE and y’all…it’s getting worse. Ha. I did some pretty extensive purging/wardrobe editing this weekend and I  FOUND IT VERY HARD TO PART WITH SOME OF MY COATS. Sigh.

What I love most about coats, cardigans, blazers or really any structured layered piece is how they contribute to giving you shape and how they add dimension to a look. One of the coat trends I’ve been particularly keen on exploring this winter is the “teddy bear” trend. This trend began making its headway last winter and after proving its ability to be a real showstopper, the teddy coat is here for another season! There are a few different ways you can approach this trend. There’s shearling and/or sherpa (essentially faux shearling), which is a major fabrication trend for F/W. In fact, I was on a mission to find a shearling teddy coat but wasn’t finding one that spoke to me personally. I decided to switch gears just a bit and focus on a faux fur option. After all, I like opulence, so fur just seemed like the right approach for this gal. And boom…I found one 🙂  And yes, it was on River Island! River Island has become a go-to stop for me when I’m looking for something cool and different! When I happened upon this jacket, I knew it would be a real showstopper for my wardrobe.

When wearing such a bold piece like this coat, it’s really important that I keep everything else fairly simple. I threw on the jeans you ladies have come to love immensely. And they are still on sale : ) To add more dimension to the coat, I opted for these super cool square toe ankle boots and a darling little leopard print clutch. And oh yes, you can never go wrong with a classic black t-neck and a statement belt! Oh yes, I should note, I wore this jacket on a below freezing day and was perfectly warm…style and function…yes, please!
