While I am slightly perplexed as to how February has past me by, I am excited to know that the spring months are in sight. Granted we’ll probably have March madness with cold temperatures and snow, but at least the idea of warmth will be near. In knowing that we are now on the downward spiral of winter, I decided to get a jumpstart on spring-cleaning my closet (which is never fun) and realized that I have quite a few winter pieces that I have not shared with you all. One of those being this beautiful wisteria colored poncho sweater that I snagged at J.Crew last September while in NYC.
About a year ago or so, I noticed that I was really limiting myself in the color department. I had gotten stuck on this neutrals, yellows and oranges only color pallet, which was making for a pretty boring closet especially since I color categorize my closet. So for the last couple of nine months I’ve been really pushing myself to be more experimental in color with tops and lipsticks. I must admit, it has not been an easy transition because it’s pretty stinking hard to deprogram yourself from what you would normally purchase. However, it has been extremely satisfying to defeat my little styling mental block.
Regardless if you are a stylist, style blogger or just an everyday fashionista, we all have those moments of style complacency. We get extremely comfortable with a specific look, color and/or trend and don’t even realize it. Yes, I believe it’s important that we develop a sense of comfort with our style, but I also believe it is equally important to continue style exploration. True style is always evolving and changing, much like your life! So, if you feel like your closet may be in a bit of a rut, I challenge you to challenge yourself! Make a list of things that you said you would never wear and try them. Or simply clean out your closet and see what you have too much of and buy the exact opposite. In the words of Anna Wintour, “Create your own style. Let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable for others.” So, to put it simply find the balance between style comfort and exploration. Your wardrobe should always be a reflection of who you are, and you never stop growing as an individual so your wardrobe shouldn’t either!

You couldn’t be more correct. I find that sometimes I get lazy when it comes to dressing myself. Not across the board, but when going to work and running errands on the wknd. Monday thru Friday I wear suits & when running around Saturday morning, it’s leggings, chunky knit & down vest. I know, booorrrrring. I’m sure to let my fashion taste shine all other times. Regardless if I’ll going to brunch, lunch, evening cocktails, dinner parties, etc.
Regardless if you’ve been in a rut this season or not, this ensemble is so cute. Love the soft, muted tones, coupled by the winter pastel lavender. You look great.
