I’ve been dying to purchase a plaid button down for almost 2 years now. I just haven’t found one that speaks to me! I know, I sound crazy, but I take my shopping very seriously. I make every effort to fully commit to pieces before I purchase. It does not make sense to buy something if you are 50/50…that’s just my personal montra to keep me on track! Ok, back to my story…so, last week while outfit planning, I realized that Jason had this epic plaid-esque button down on his side of the closet. I took it upon myself to try it on and absolutely LOVED it. Come to find out, Jason has had this button down for over fifteen years! Yes, people, I said FIFTEEN YEARS. The man does not believe in throwing anything away, which is a benefit for me in this particular situation! So, this post is a shoutout to my Forever Boyfriend, who occasionally lets me borrow his clothes. Love you boo <3 and you can pretty much count on not ever wearing this shirt again, because it’s mine now!
To give Jason’s button down a more feminine feel, I decided to tie in the front and show just a “hint” of tummy. Also, I rolled up the sleeves about three times, so it wouldn’t appear to be super baggy.
This particular look is FULL of Madewell awesomeness. The handbag, the gold double ring and the jeans are all from Madewell. I know, the price tag of Madewell items can often be a bit scary, but trust me when I say that anything from Madewell is TOTALLY WORTH the price. What I value most about this company is their outstanding quality, which increases wardrobe longevity and wearability. So, when you purchase a $200 leather handbag or a $130 pair of jeans, they will indeed last you for quite some time. Another personal mantra that I stand by while shopping is, to purchase the pricer item(s) if I know it has sustainability, because in the long run…I save money!
The Kensington Satchel from Madewell never fails me. Such a classic bag. In fact, I think I’ll be buying their Transport Tote in the near future! You can never have too many handbags!

– Try to avoid impulsive shopping. Spend your money on things you truly want!
– Don’t be afraid to steal clothes from your husband’s closet and make them your own! He’ll be proud because you’re saving money. LOL
– Invest in KEY pieces that will LAST. Don’t allow price to scare you, especially when they are essential pieces for your wardrobe that have sustainability. While the initial purchase may hurt your pocketbook and limit your additional spending for a while, it will indeed be worth it in the long run.

I used to borrow my dad’s sweaters for the winter. It was so great, it helped me save until he wanted them back LOL !!
