I’m pretty sure that February is one of my favorite months…Groundhog’s Day, my poppa’s birthday and Valentine’s Day! Sadly, the groundhog saw his shadow yesterday, which means 6 more weeks of winter for those of us who live in colder areas. Boo. But on the upside, Valentine’s Day is next Saturday! Every girl/woman in America looks forward to Valentine’s Day. It’s that one day of the year when you can be completely and utterly corny about love. Also, it provides you with an excuse to go out and buy something new to wear! So, to sum it up, Valentine’s Day is about getting romantic presents and dressing up. ha.

In late December, Fevrie, a french inspired online boutique from California, reached out and asked if I would be willing to do a little collaboration and of course I said yes! In fact, I was planning February content at that point and knew that I wanted to touch on “non-traditional” outfit ideas for Valentine’s Day. As you may have guessed, I am not really a fan of wearing all red, pink or black on this glorious day of love. It feels expected and I define expected as boring. I mean, nothing is more disappointing than walking into a restaurant on Valentine Day’s with your boyfriend/husband thinking you look AMAZING, to only discover that every woman inside of said restaurant is wearing black, red or pink. BLAH. Granted, it isn’t about what colors you wear, but “HOW” you wear them. Nonetheless, walking into fashion situations such as these, is just not fun in my opinion.

So, while puroozing the Fervie site, I found this super cute fit and flare dress that I thought would be perfect for Valentine’s Day! I was drawn to its flirty shape and the neutral grey tone, which would serve as a great base to accessorize this beauty! My goal in styling this dress with Valentine’s Day in mind was to keep the sweet and flirty vibe, without using too much pink, red and black and I would say that I accomplished that goal. For starters, I paired the dress with dark grey tights from Uniqlo. I love that the tights are a deeper grey tone with blue hues. The blues hues from the tights then led me to my dream blue coat, which is the perfect coat length for this dress. Knowing that I wanted to add a hint of pink and red, I decided to incorporate the ILY Couture fringe statement necklace, as it has a turquoise blue stoning and pale pink and punchy red beading. For finishing touches, I went basic by throwing  on black booties and grabbing a black clutch. After all, this is an evening look, so you need a little bit of black! And lastly, nude pink lips.

And there you have it…a Valentine’s Day inspired look without red, pink or black being the primary colors of your ensemble! Fevrie is offering  25% off to all Live Love and Read readers until the end of February! The special code is CANDACELLR. Skip on over to their site and get shopping! Lots of great things that you can snag in time for Valentine’s Day or any other cool life events you have happening this month!
