In the words of my mother, “never say, never.” For the majority of my life I have always taken more of a simplistic approach when it came to jeans. I typically go for a nice straight leg or skinny jean in a medium or dark wash. Believe it or not, I’m a creature of habit, especially when it comes to denim. However, recently I’ve been pushing myself (along with the help of Target) to venture outside of my comfort zone and try new styles and washes. Eeeeekkkk.

Last week I made a trip to Target to try out a few more options from their new and improved line of denim. Click HERE if you missed my 10 day #targetstyle journal with 4 pairs of denim. Anywho, unsure of what I would select, I looked around for about 20 minutes (Jason was over it) and decided that I had but one choice, do what I always promised to never do. TO NEVER wear acid wash jeans and TO NEVER wear denim joggers. I reluctantly selected my sizes in Target’s denim jogger and acid wash jegging, went to the dressing room and ended up not trying them on, because I just knew I would find a reason to not like them! So, instead, I opted to just purchase them and try them on at home. I’m pretty sure you already know how this story ends…ha. Of course I ended up liking them, keeping them and styling them! The jogger is amazingly comfortable and a nice change from traditional jeans. The acid wash denim is just fun. It’s so different from what I typically wear. While it indeed presented a challenge in the styling department, I thoroughly enjoyed making them work for my personal style.

Despite my initial hesitation in stepping outside of my comfort zone, I’m glad that I did. I have to keep reminding myself that it’s ok to try trends that aren’t exactly me! Worst of worst, I simply won’t like it. However, I have discovered time and time again, that I end up loving the things I swore to never like or try. Ha. So, I would like to do a denim dare! I DARE you to try some new denim styles, washes and pieces that you’ve sworn to never try, by visiting your nearest Target. Worst of worst, you simply may not like a few of the things that you try on, but I can almost guarantee that you’ll find something you absolutely love. And oh yes, for those of you who don’t live near a Target, during the first two weeks in August (8/2 – 8/15), Target is offering you FREE SHIPPING and returns when you shop denim on www.target.com/jeans. Pretty groovy, huh?

I hope this post has inspired you a bit! Now get denim shopping and send me pics!
