Despite the incredibly cool Instagram post and millions of glamorous Snap chats, NYFW is ROUGH on da body. Early mornings, late nights. Oh, and not to mention the 24/7 running around like a crazy lady. Often times you are running from activity to activity with very little time to eat or think before walking into your next meeting, event, etc. There was one day (I believe it was Saturday) that I did not eat at all until I sat for dinner! Well, I had eaten a few things, but nothing of substance.
In the past, I’ve made the poor choice of picking 24/7 glamour over being stylistically practical and comfortable. After all, NYFW is a LOOOOONNNNNGGG and exhausting regardless if you are going for a 4 days or staying the entire 8/9 days. Your schedule for NYFW really comes together at the last minute. And by last minute, I mean days before you leaving you are often still penciling in details and figuring your schedule to. Any who, relatively early in the planning process, I knew that Sunday would be my lighter day (aka the perfect day to wear sneakers). Rather than bouncing round the city, I totally took full advantage of the athleisure trend and rocked my favorite gold kicks by Nike (and yes, I actually wore them to the show!) with this mock neck/drop waist dress that I scooped from Abercrombie & Fitch. Sidenote: Y’all Abercrombie is making a major come back. Just saying.
To find the perfect balance of making this casual, yet chic I included a few staple accessories. This Old Navy denim jacket was hardcore on repeat for me during NYFW. Later that evening Moncia, Ranti and I grabbed dinner with a blogger friend before heading over to the Kevin Black Presentation. I did do a little wardrobe change, but you can bet your bottom dollar I was still rocking this denim jacket. LOL. Who knew that a $30 jacket could change my life sooo much?
Any who, I’m so glad I decided to include more of a casual look for NYFW. My feet most definitely thanked me, too. haha. So, good news! These kicks are currently in stock via Champs Sport and I’ve linked them down below. Also, this super cool dress is currently $17! Yes, $17. It is also linked down below.
Here’s to embracing the notion that less is more and that comfort should often be priority.
