And hello 2-0-1-7. And yes, I am aware…I’m about a week late. However, I decided to take a much needed vacation from Instagram and publishing content here on the blog in hopes of recharging, reprioritizing and all that other fun adult stuff. There’s no doubt about it, I love doing what I do. However, to keep those creative juices flowing, I’ve learned there are moments in time when you simply need to pull away…so that’s exactly what I did. And now I am BACK.

If we are Instagram pals, it is highly likely that you remember my December talks about how eyewear can transform your look. And just in case these pictures do not have you convinced, I am here to tell you that adding a new frame (or a couple of new frames) to your wardrobe can do wonders for your style. I continue to stand by my mantra of shopping intentionally and purchasing pieces that will provide you with longevity. Eyewear is most definitely one of those things! If purchased with intention, you will realize just how versatile they can be. And most importantly, you will realize how they can give an outfit you’ve worn nearly a million times, new life. Ok, now that I have your attention, let’s talk eyewear trends, specifically what’s trending for winter, since we have almost 70 days until Spring). There are just THREE things you need to keep in mind and they are: winter hues, dramatic frames and bold suns.

Winter Hues: When it comes to color, CRYSTAL and BLUE are huge. These hues are usually combined with a matte and/or textured finish to give it a flare of modernity. I’ve never really considered myself to be a “crystal” frame wearer, but I must admit that I am madly in love with this color. It’s so simple, yet incredibly chic.

Dramatic, Detailed Frames: Drama, drama, DRAMA. I’ve always had a flare for the dramatic, which is why this frame trend is PERFECT for me. The dramatic, detailed frame trend is all about juxtaposition between masculinity and femininity…the overall frame is slightly “hard,” however, it still embodies “soft” feminine elements. This is not my first talk about juxtaposition, so as you can imagine, I am a huge fan of this trend. There is something incredibly refreshing about mixing and matching styles/details.

Bold, Statement Suns: I am a firm believer in statement suns. In fact, I would venture to say that wearing bold, statement suns has been a way of life for my personal style. Regardless if you have 20/20 or not, statement suns that are bold in color and unique in shape are a surefire way to give your winter look a bit of interest! When approaching this trend, I encourage you to shop for the opposite of what you normally gravitate to. I usually lean towards something that is tortoise and semi-circular. In this instance, I am glad I ventured out, as I learned how striking a colored frame is on my face. Additionally, I learned that my face is very much suited for a more rectangular shape.

As you can see, when it comes to eyewear, the options truly are endless. You simply have to be willing to put yourself out there and experiment. When it comes to discovering what’s best for me and my lifestyle (in terms of eyewear) and what’s fashionable, I really enjoy Visionworks! With more that 700+ retail locations and 2,000 optical options, they have become my go-to eyewear! I live about 15 minutes down the road from a Visionworks location and have become pals with Miss Michelle, who assisted me during my last visit. From quality products, great service and endless on-trend opticals, I feel confident in saying that you’ll love Visionworks as much as I do. You don’t live near a Visionworks? Not to worry, because they are online too! www.visionworks.com.

It is typically around this time of the year that we become bored with our winter wardrobe. Rather than going out to purchase a few new sweaters to endure the remainder of the season, try a new pair of frames. I can pretty much guarantee it will be style changing! Trust me.
