There’s one word that I am certain Jason never wants to hear again and that’s juxtaposition. Hands down, it’s my favorite word to use to explain my love for fashion, art, decorating, etc. He just gives me that look when I say it. LOL. It’s so funny.
But in all honesty, I really do love juxtaposition. Here lately there is something about opposition and contrast that makes me excited. In my quest to be more adventurous stylistically, I’ve been combining more masculine pieces with the super feminine ones. One thing that I have been particularly interested in wearing/styling is the slip dress! You may remember from this post and this one. However, I had yet to style it with a bit of masculinity. Nothing screams “dude” quite like a parka jacket and Adidas combo!
When it comes to creating a “juxt” look, I firmly believe that its the accessories that really seal the deal and communicate the overall feel of the aesthetic you are trying to achieve…hence the reason I reached for the parka and Adidas. For an extra touch of masculinity, I added my ever faithful Madewell Transport cross-body and these men’s vintage aviators I’ve had for nearly 10 years! For the extra flare of femininity, I incorporated hoops and a choker! Overall, a pretty simple look that is perfectly balanced in contrast!
Yup, this was a speedy post! Not to worry, there will be a more in-depth conversation on this a little later. I’m currently in Atlanta for a doctor’s appointment, but I wanted to make sure I got something up for you guys. I finally feel like I rediscovered my blogging stride! woot woot.
