For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been pushing myself to explore new depths of my personal style. By pushing, I mean trying trends that I would not necessarily gravitate to. One of those being the bandana trend. Growing up we had bandanas everywhere, but normally just used them as head scarves for sleeping {#blackgrilhairprobs.LOL}. One day while doing my daily blog reading, Christine Anderson of Hello Fashion Blog {she’s my favorite} was rocking the most adorable wine colored bandana around her neck. She took the most simplistic outfit and added a bandana and it was pretty much GOALZ. In that moment, I knew I had to try this trend and NYFW would be the ideal place…for obvious reasons…no one cares about what you wear! Just wear it and wear it with confidence and it is bound to be a success.

Our first day in New York for Fashion Week was pretty busy and I knew I wanted to be comfortable. In the past, I have chosen to be cute over practicality and it always kicks me in the FACE later.  With my newly purchased bandana {and it is identical to the one that Hello Fashion Blog was wearing}, I decided to create a causal cowboy chic look. I mean, let’s be honest, bandanas scream “COWBOY.”

For this particular look, I wanted to create subtle unexpected touches to give a causal look that “WOW” factor. Naturally, I did some black and brown mixin’ and matchin’. Rather than going with jeans, I layered with an a-line skirt. Oh, you can’t be cowboy chic unless you have a killer hat! Due to the heat, I opted for my favorite summer hat by Madewell because I would have literally died if I selected a more traditional fall hat texture. It was literally 90’s in NYC in September…that’s crazy! To complete this look, I added these oversized gold hoops as they contributed to making the bandana the focal point of this outfit.

This look is 1 of 6 different outfits that I have to share with you peeps from NYFW. Just this morning Jason and I were chatting about my how my style is evolving right now. I feel strongly that the outfits from this recent trip really showcase a few of my stylistic changes! I’m excited to see/hear what you guys think about it.
