There are two things in life that I am extremely passionate about and they are not-for-profits and fashion.

A few weeks back, my fellow blogger and chair of Dine.Drink.Dress (aka d3), Liz of Mrs. LadyLike reached out to me and asked if I would be willing to help spread the word about the 2015 d3cmh event, and of course I said YES! Just to provide a little background information, Dine. Drink. Dress is an annual event that supports the efforts of Dress For Success Columbus. For those of you who don’t know, Dress For Success is a massive, international, not-for-profit organization “that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.” Without getting into all of the specifics, just know that it’s an amazing organization that genuinely desires to serve and enrich the lives of women around the world by equipping her with what she needs to find professional success, despite her socio-economic status. On a personal note, I come from a single parent home and my mom ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS made sure that my sisters and I had everything that we needed to be successful academically and professionally. In understanding that my mom made many sacrifices in order to provide my siblings and me with better opportunities, it has always been my desire to give back by providing the exact same opportunity that was given to me. So, when Liz asked if I would be willing to help, I felt this was a step in the right direction to make that desire a reality!

One of the coolest things about Columbus, OH is the wealth of local businesses. One of those being Rowe Boutique on High Street. Since d3 is such a highly anticipated event that supports local women, wouldn’t it be equally as cool if all of the event attendees wore clothing from local businesses like Rowe, instead of heading to places like Nordstrom? Please know, I am not saying that there is anything wrong with shopping at large retailers, but I find it unbelievably satisfying to purchase from local retailers who believe in and support similar causes, like Dress for Success. In hopes of showing you guys how wonderful local boutiques are and the great variety they offer, I’ve teamed with Rowe Boutique to create 3 amazing looks for the 2015 Dine. Drink. Dress event. Each look has a different flavor that I believe will be totally fitting for the event. Look 1 is more of a traditional summer feel with various hues of beige/tan, while look 2 is your classic little black dress with a twist and look 3 is all about making a statement through the use of juxtaposition. The diversity amongst the looks shows that you can find unique pieces for various styles/themes at a local boutique, just as you could at a larger retailer. In fact, I would venture to say that you find EVEN BETTER clothing when you shop in boutique-esque environments or at least that has been my experience. So, before you run to shop for your next event at Saks or Nordstrom or wherever you typically go (and we hope that your next event is Dine.Drink.Dress), I encourage you to make a trip downtown and experience the local vibe. Rowe Boutique is an amazing shop with lots of variety, super cool decor and wonderful service. Oh yes, and they are next door neighbors to Jeni’s Ice Cream. BONUS! A little shopping at Rowe and top it off with some yummy ice cream : )  woot woot.

    1. Hi Abby,

The cream colored heels with the gold accent are made by Express, but I found them at TJ Maxx this time last year. And the black t-straps are by BCBG and I also found those at TJ Maxx : )

      I hope this helps.

      xoxo, CR
