ALL IMAGES DARIAN KAYCE

Happy 4th of July my sweet friends! While most of you are out enjoying (which you should be), I am currently trying to get caught up on life. As I have said on numerous occasions, the last couple of months have been interesting for me. Lots of change, growing, stretching and all of those other fun adjectives. After a season of inconsistencies and a lack of creativity, I feel that I have finally found my passion again. After all, it really is PASSION that fuels a crazy creative pursuit like this. In hopes of making this blog an even groovier experience for YOU, I am currently hard at work making some changes. So, if you can hang with me until about October, I will have some spectacular things to share!

But first things first, let’s get caught up on easy things. The amount of images I am currently sitting on is INSANE. No really, it’s insane. This week, we are gonna roundup a few things from my West Texas adventure! And yes, we are gonna start with this lovely little dress right here. En route to Marfa, TX, we made a quick pitstop in Marathon, TX, which is about 40ish minutes outside of Marfa. Our primary reason for stopping in this little gem of a city was to see the Gage Hotel. This darling hotel combines the perfect mixture of western flare and Mexican-inspired decor. Per my research, this mission style hotel has been around since 1927, henceforth making it the most perfect backdrop for a quick photo sesh with Darian.

Knowing that the Gage Hotel was going to be a pitstop on our western adventure, I wanted to create a look that complimented the natural beauty of the property. I know, I know…I sound like a crazy creative. But you know, being a stylist is 100% creative and there are indeed those moments your inner crazy needs to come forth. LOL. But on a more serious note, I wanted the look shot at this space to be a natural fit with the various elements of the Gage Hotel, while also embodying a bit of my personality.

During my final days of shopping for Marfa, I made a run to Old Navy to pick up this off-the-shoulder dress that I knew would be perfect at some point during the trip. It wasn’t until the eve of the trip that I realized that this piece would be perfect for The Gage. From there I started layering on the accessories. Without question, I knew I wanted to highlight the various shades of browns, hence the roundup of brown-ish accessories…earrings, lipstick, sunnies, handbag, etc. For a loop of color, of course I went for a golden yellow. Y’all, I can’t quite explain it…but this color speaks to my soul! Also, it’s the perfect shade to compliment a dark denim + brown kinda combo.
