The day Drew Barrymore told me she “LOVED” my sweater while at the New York City Ballet Annual Luncheon in 2013 remains to be one of the greatest moments of my fashion life. For those of you who don’t know the full story about this epic life moment, click HERE and HERE and it will give you all of the juicy details. After chatting with my friend Jennifer (who’s a lead stylist at Dream Dry on 57th) about carving out some time to snap a few blog photos, I just knew that I had to wear this sweater for the shoot! The question mark of “but how should I style it” came later and it wasn’t until the eve of leaving for NYC that I figured it out…a little Drew Barrymore meets Carrie Bradshaw.

Drew Barrymore Meets Carrie Bradshaw | Live Love & Read | Style BlogAs we all know, Carrie Bradshaw (aka the one and only Sarah Jessica Parker) is known for her creative and loud fashion combos, which is seemingly something that most of us could not pull off in our everyday lives. While I know that my personal style doesn’t exactly match the vibrancy of Carrie’s, I do believe that her character has taught us all to embrace and be extreme with our style, no matter what it is. Therefore, making the “Bradshaw Effect”  achievable, regardless of labels, where you live, etc. Channeling your “inner Carrie Bradshaw” as some call it, isn’t about what you are wearing, but taking OWNERSHIP of how you present yourself. For some of us that may be in a more classic manner and for others it may be in an abstract approach, just like Carrie’s.

Upon making the decision to create my rendition of the “Bradshaw Effect”, I knew that I had to wear these colors together…but how? As I previously mentioned, I already knew that I had to wear the Drew Barrymore sweater, but how in the heck was I going to combine both pink and black with such a bold sweater?

Drew Barrymore Meets Carrie Bradshaw | Live Love & Read | Style BlogPer the usual, I was overthinking. After taking a moment to look through my closet, followed by laying supine on the floor like Mindy Lahiri from the Mindy Project, the remaining pieces of the outfit just flashed before my eyes ( I know that sounds weird, but it’s the truth. I typically have dreams about what I am going to wear/how I should style it).

Drew Barrymore Meets Carrie Bradshaw | Live Love & Read | Style Blog A big thank you to Jennifer for allowing me to borrow her beautiful Chanel bag to complete this look! Although labels aren’t necessary to channel your “inner Carrie Bradshaw”, they certainly do make you feel a little more like Carrie. Just saying…

Walking across the street, a stereotypical blogger action shot that’s very Carrie Bradshaw.

And that’s my rendition of the “Bradshaw Effect.” Remember, that channeling your inner Carrie isn’t about what you are wearing, but about YOU embracing and owning your personal style in the loudest way possible!
