I love dressing up! Absolutely love it, however I don’t get to do it as much as I would like. I live in a pretty small town and we are EXTREMELY limited on social activities, which completely sucks since Jason and I are both social butterflies! Any who, on the rare occasions that I do have to “dress to the nines,” I take full advantage of the opportunity! At least once a month, Jason and I will have date night…and here’s a simple look I would happily wear for a “Read’s Night Out on the Town!”

Random Side Note: Walking across this bridge was probably the most awkward thing ever. It was extremely wobbly and indeed a miracle that I made it across without getting my heel stuck or dropping my clutch into the water. Oh yes, a big thank you to Kimberly for selecting a location that presented such wonderful juxtaposition.

Unzipped  I’ve spent the last 8 months looking for the MOST PERFECT zipper accented sweater. I had literally searched high and low until one random day while window shopping at J. Crew in the Shop of Columbus Circle (New York City), I saw this beauty. I literally stood in the shoe parlor for 25 minutes debating if I should get it or not because I had promised myself that I wouldn’t buy anything. Well, I allowed “my wants” to overpower me and purchased this eye catcher for just $30…yup, $30 ( Reg. $79.50)!

Unzipped My pageant land swimsuit shoes that I totally hand painted to match my skin color! #thestruggleisreal

Eyelash lace just screams feminine and every woman wants to look feminine for a lovely date night with her beau! To continue with a theme of delicate femininity, I added light neutrals to the ensemble (i.e. the shoes, clutch, pearls).

What I love most about this skirt is the mobility! Although it has the shape of a pencil skirt, it is extremely movable, which I think is a big deal. Nothing is worse than wearing a skirt that makes you feel trapped. Ugh. In this skirt I can cross my legs, take wide strides while walking and even dance the night away if needed (but not likely because Jason Read DOES NOT dance)!

That dang zipper….amazing! I cannot get over it. lol.

Although I am the queen of accessories and excessive layering, I’ve been challenging myself to be more simplistic in my wardrobe. There is such power in simplicity! Often times I/we get caught up in layering, layering and more layering that our outfits lose their fashion effectiveness! Sometimes it’s nice to take a break from the usual and be simplistic. No fuss. Nothing extra. Just simple.
