Hey, hey, hey. It’s Thursday and I’m excited to say that this is the official return! 21 days away from you cool cats was way too long, but it’s what I needed to do to get through the last weeks of graduate school. At this point, I have one set of discussion questions and the actual graduation standing between me and officially being done with my educational pursuits. While my mom does not believe me, I am most confident that I WILL NEVER BE GOING BACK TO SCHOOL. Education is hard enough, but adding real adult life makes it even HARDER. Any who, enough about that. Later this summer I will be writing a post about how I survived graduate school. So stay tuned for that one…it should be a fun read.

Moving on to what I think I do best and that is talking style. In working closely with my peers over the last couple of weeks, I realized that there is indeed a trend that is on the rise that I have yet to discuss here on Live Love and Read…ATHLEISURE. Two of my classmates did their final projects on this trend, which inspired me to create an athleisure inspired look. First things first, let me clarify, what is athleisure? According to Wikipedia (which is a way more creditable source than we think…or at least that what’s I learned in my digital media class), Athleisure is a trend in fashion in which clothing designed for workouts and other athletic activities is worn in other settings, such as during work, casual or social occasions. Notable celebrities who are giving this trend life include Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Rhiana and others. Now mind you, I do not really do the whole workout thing, hence the reason I am using the words “athleisure inspired” for this blog post.  I wanted this vibe to be reflective of me and my personal style, so I do what I always do…simply start in my closet with what I have.

For this look, I started with footwear. With athlesiure being a bit more out of my comfort zone, I felt that starting with footwear would help with putting the entire look into context (sidenote: These are the Nike Rosche sneaks that I had been drooling over for weeks and finally found at Champs at Lenox Square! Only $110. Sadly, I do not think they are shoppable anywhere online, but if you call Champs they may be able to do a send sale.) From there I was inspired to add a crop top. One of the things I’ve noticed about athleisure is that it typically encompasses a sports bra or some type of mid-drift. I truly believe in always taking the more modest approach, so crop top it was. What I particularly love about this crop top is that it meets the belly button (aka less skin showing). For pants, I decided to go with these eggplant jeggings that I’ve had for almost 4 years now. I really love mixing and matching textures. Adding a texture pant seemed to give the look a bit more life than going with a standard athletic pant. And lastly, finishing touches! Per my athleisure trend reading, what seems to seal the deal with the athleisure style are the accessories! To highlight the gold in my sneaks, I incorporated a variety of golden accents from my lip color, watch, headphones, sunnies and rustic golden orange sweater. In seeing the look prior to adding the accessories, I am going to have to agree that it’s the accessories that really make this trend. For a first attempt, I think I did well. Now I’m just trying to decide if this look really is for me…thoughts?

Happy Thursday!
