Hello Holiday Jewel Tones! I’ve never been overly excited about the traditional red and green color combo. That being said, I like to opt for those rich jewel tones and mix them with a few pastels. When it comes to winter (or Holiday) style, it’s not so much about color choice, but the textures you combine. It is your choice of textures that aid in making your look seasonal. For this particular laid-back holiday look, these pixie pants (which are currently on sale) and the earrings served as the foundation of this look, both of which are more “jewel tone” in nature. Inspired by the jewel tones, I worked my way down the opposite ends of the color spectrum for this berry magenta shade and the royal blue (found in the earring) and that is how we arrived at including the pastel blue coat and ballet pink sweater. For a little extra variation in textures, I added these patent leather oxfords and gold jewelry, which both contribute to giving the overall look that little extra holiday pizazz. This look and/or approach to styling is more than ideal for the casual holiday party you may be attending this Friday or Christmas Eve service on Saturday. Oh, and here’s the best part…all of these pieces are existing pieces from my wardrobe. I gave considerable thought to what I wanted to achieve stylistically and simply mixed and matched what I already had! You already know my motto, but just in case you forgot, “Buy intentionally and not necesarily trendy.” You are guaranteed longevity when you take a more methodical approach.

P.S. There are 3 days until Christmas and ya girl has still not purchased anything! Jason and I are going to run out on Friday and pick up a few things for our nieces and nephew and that’s it. In all honesty, it’s been a little freeing to not consume myself with selecting THE RIGHT holiday gift for each and every person in my family. I just think we have found a new tradition of “less gifting” and more quality time. I would LOVE IT if we could start taking a trip somewhere each Christmas. That would be beyond ideal, since we are frequent adventurers.  And speaking of adventure, if you are looking for a little something to do this Friday while roaming the city, I encourage ya to take a trip to Easton to see this magical Christmas tree. It’s MASSIVE. Also, scoot on down to the Short North and enjoy a hot chocolate with a homemade peppermint marshmallow…#LIFECHANGING. AHHH.
