I have to admit..the timing of today’s post could not be more perfect because it actually feels like FALL outside. This weekend’s weather was the very essence of Fall wanderlust. While I feel confident that these perfect fall temperatures won’t be sticking around too long for us, it always seems like we jump from Summer to Winter in 2.5 seconds with .5 seconds of Fall. Despite the shortness of the Fall, there is NO REASON why we can’t embrace “the most happening” Fall trends.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I ventured to Polaris Fashion Place to snag some perfect fall pieces from a few of my favorite retailers (Saks, Madewll, The Limited, Journeys and J Crew) for a few different September/October trips I had planned. One of those being to Charleston! Granted it was a little warm down South, but that did not stop me from embracing a few highly anticipated Fall trends:

Modern Goth Romance- I tend to stay away from very dark, vampy lips. However, when I stumbled upon the Modern Goth Romance {aka modgoth} trend, I knew this something I could not resist. When it comes to modgoth it’s all about finding a perfectly matte foundation and pairing it with a deep lip color. To gather the essentials I needed to make this trend possible, I ventured to Saks @ Polaris Fashion Place and made a visit to both the Lancome and Mac counters. From Lancome, I snagged a bottle of the ever faithful Teint Idole foundation (seriously da best). And of course MAC to find the most perfect shade of lipstick because no one does lipstick quite like MAC. With the help of Julia I left with  MAC’s pro long wear lip pencil in “Bittersweet” and a tube of lipstick called “Anitque Velvet.”

Small Handbags- At one moment in time, I could have sworn that handbags were getting larger and LARGER. However, the last couple of seasons have proven that handbags are actually getting smaller. The saying “less is more” is true with the “small handbag trend.” Being the Madewell fanatic that I am, I ventured straight to Madewell in hopes of finding a small leather backpack. Upon arriving I found this mini sized transport tote. I knew it was a much better fit for my lifestyle than a backpack.

Classic White Kicks- Adidas Superstars. Is there really much more to say? While this trend really made its huge debut in S/S ’16, it is still going strong and making just as much of a splash for Fall too! I may be a little late to the game, but owning a pair of classic white kicks is ESSENTIAL. To add this staple trend to my closet, I made my way to Shi by Journeys. Knowing that a solid white sneaker made me a little nervous, I immediately gravitated to the Adidas Superstars with the classic black stripe.

The Sleeveless Trench- Initially, on a mission to find some fall floral pieces, I made a quick run to The Limited during my Fall Haul. But per the usual, I found myself completely overtaken by another epic Fall trend, the sleeveless trench.  Having a trench coat is one of those iconic staples that every woman needs in her closet. But a sleeveless trench is on a WHOLE OTHER LEVEL. Perhaps what I love most about this trend is the ability to dress it up or down.

Tomgirl- When femininity meets masculinity, you get tomgirl chic. When it comes to that preppy tomgirl chic vibe, J. Crew shines! Rather going for the traditional “tomgirl” approved button, I decided to go for this oversized gingham print in olive green. Let’s be honest, the “tomgirl” trend never really went out of style. She just now has a new LIFE with things live oversized gingham print, unique color options, etc.

Fall Florals- Whenever I think of floral prints, I immediately think of Miranda Priestly statement from the Devil Wears Prada “Florals for Spring? Groundbreaking.” LOL. Well, if florals aren’t groundbreaking for Spring, I most definitely think it is groundbreaking for FALL. While The Limited has some amazing fall florals, I remember seeing this botanical sweatshirt from J. Crew a few weeks prior and thought it would be worth a whirl due its uniqueness! Not so expected it would also perfectly transition in the Winter season.

If you are looking to give your wardrobe a little Fall love this season, be sure to scoot over to Polaris Fashion Place! They literally have everything you could need/want for this season or really any season for that matter. We are in the process of cleaning out Jason’s wardrobe and I’m thinking we are gonna need to make a visit to Polaris for HIM too.
