It’s been a little over a year since I talked about rainy day style! So, I was pretty stoked to discover that it would be raining on shooting day. I mean, I was not thrilled about the fact that it would rain all day since Kimberly and I had planned on shooting all of December’s looks in one day so we could enjoy the holiday season with our family and friends, but per the usual, we produced some of our best work in the most unlikely conditions (the rain). After a few morning meetings in downtown Columbus, we decided to take cover at Pistacia Vera for a quick bite, as well as pray for the rain to slack off just a bit. Shortly after ordering, we realized that the rain wasn’t going to slow down any, so we simply made Pistacia Vera the background for our rainy day shoot. And I must say, it was a pretty epic idea, as the parisian inspired cafe is simply stunning. It’s a little piece of New York tucked away in German Village, which I love. New York City is the very reason why I love brunch and macarons soooooo much. My husband isn’t a fan of either, so I jumped on the opportunity to take Kimberly, because I’m learning that brunch and macs are a girl thing, unless you’re a man who lives in NYC (because brunch and macs are simply a way of weekend life in the city). haha.

In my previous post that focused on rainy day style, I shared my distain for wearing pants when it rains. Between the rain, the jeans and rain boots, I simply feel trapped! So, I prefer to wear dresses when it rains. I know, I’m weird. Any who, one day back in August during my daily blog reading, I fell in love with this beautiful Sosie Vital Tribal Cardigan worn by Rachel Purcell of Pink Peonies to only discover that is was sold out! Fail. I sadly added my name to the waiting list and just a month ago I got an e-mail that it was back in stock! I quickly called Jason and asked if I could snag it as my Christmas present? Being the awesome husband that he is, he said YES. Upon receiving it in the mail, I just knew that this cardigan was made to be paired with a chiffon dress. So, naturally I pulled my white chiffon slip dress. Not knowing when I would wear this look, I added it to my “to wear soon” pile, which takes up about 1/4 of my closet (and yes, I’m a freakish preplanner). When I learned it would be raining on our shooting day, I immediately pulled the semi-styled look and finished it up by adding tan hunter boots…a rainy day essential…over the knee socks, a chunky infinity scarf and a purse. I chose tan accessories to make the look less dressy and more casual. From there, I added a few rings and a simple pair of pearls. All in all, I think this is the perfect rainy day look!

Next time you’re in German Village be sure to swing by Pistacia Vera for brunch and some tasty macs. You won’t regret it!
