Skyline. There is something pretty magical about hanging out on the rooftop and being among the architecture that makes up your city.
It has been exactly 7 months since we made the BIG move to Columbus and I gotta say, I absolutely love this city. As the 15th largest city in America, I definitely think Columbus is “underrated.” Without question, there is noooo shortage of charm, adventure and wanderlust here in the 614. I’m not 100% certain if we will live here FOREVER, but I do know I would not be sad if we did.
One of the best things about living in a new city is the creativity you discover around every corner. When I mentioned “underrated”, this is one of the areas where I think people severely underestimate Columbus. Maybe I notice it a bit more because I’m in the industry, but Columbus is literally busting at the seams with creativity. When I acknowledged my creative interest in Fashion, we were living in Parkersburg. Needless to say, there wasn’t much of a fashion scene and/or creative scene happening in the Burg. To put it simply, I think I grew incredibly comfortable with my creative process and how I approached curating content, imagery and my style. I did not have any creative accountability, if that makes sense.
Prior to moving here, I knew the scene that I was entering, as I had done my homework and networked with fellow creatives in the city for nearly two years (yes, two years. And don’t worry, I’m writing an entire blog about that.) However, what I did not know is how badly I needed this Skyline and it’s creative energy. There comes a point in each creative’s pursuit were you need that little extra push to propel you forward to the next chapter. And that is exactly what Columbus has done for me. It’s given that extra bit of encouragement to boldly live a creative life. I’ve been so worried about making mistakes or not doing things perfectly that I’ve been on the straight and narrow. By straight and narrow, I mean the perfect plan curated by me based on what I think I can do and what I can afford, blah, blah, blah. However, living a creative life is really about abandoning fear and moving foward without fear of the unknown. Thanks to the 614 and the plethora of creative individuals I discover on the daily, I think I finally understand.
I guess I share all of these things to say that I have some things in the professional/creative arena in the works. I am a firm believer that timing is everything, so I will share once I have more concrete plans in place. A friend once told me, be careful with sharing your dreams with the entire world. Sometimes the things we desire most are best protected when we keep them in our heart. We never know how the enemy is waiting to plant seeds of discourse into our thoughts about our dream or plant those seeds into the minds of others. Simply put, leave your dreams in the hands of the Father and allow Him to manifest them. After all, it is not by chance that you have that desire. Nine times out of ten, He planted that desire in your heart.

I’m obsessed with all of this– your sweatshirt, those jeans, that view! I love it! I haven’t been to Columbus in years, I live in Lexington, KY, so we used to come up to Easton every now & then to shop 🙂
