Since moving from the South, I’ve become a sucker for a good coat. It’s safe to say that all the coats in our coat closet are mine…I mean…I’m only taking up 3/4 of the space in that closet. ha. Perhaps what I love most about a good statement coat is its ability to truly transform an outfit! And when I say transform, I am speaking to what I like to call, character. Finding the perfect outerwear piece during the colder temperatures can give your outfit that little touch of character you need to feel COMPLETE.
To help me beat the gloom of the cooler temps ( I am 100% a summer lover), I like to challenge myself with exploring different aspects of my style personality. It keeps things fun and interesting! I recently received this lovely powder blue statement coat from River Island. For my first round of outfitting this beauty, I decided to challenge myself with creating my more classic look but also doing a look that was a bit edgier/moodier.
For Look No. 1, I opted for this cute orange and blue striped shirt dress! Rather than wearing it bare legged, of course, I reached for a cool pair of denim! A dress paired over denim is one of team Wardrobe Therapy‘s favorite trends for the season (just in case you missed our trend report >> HERE). And yes, this is something you should totally be into…just saying! To keep things interesting, I selected a cropped flared denim. To keep my proportions balanced, I grabbed these high heels. They keep me looking nice and long! To finish off the look, of course, I draped my new statement coat across my shoulders! What I love about this look is the combination of colors. Orange paired with blue is always a good idea!
For Look No. 2, this plaid jumpsuit with touches of blue was just a MUST. Another major trend, WORKING GIRL. Cannot get enough of all the plaids, houndstooth prints, etc. Truly good stuff! To complete the look, I layered a black turtleneck underneath the jumpsuit and finished it off with these darling white mules and lock handbag from River Island. And again, the blue coat just pulls the look together seamlessly!
There’s no doubt about it, this beauty will continuously be on repeat! In fact, I’m checking the weather right now to see if it’s cold enough to wear TODAY! Ha.
