There is just something about the word “spa” that makes this girl’s heart skip a beat. I mean seriously, what is there not to love about being pampered? As much as I love the spa, I don’t exactly make time to go as frequently as I would like…seemingly, there is always something else do. However, after a wonderful day of relaxation at The Spa at River Ridge, I was reminded how important it is:

1. To treat yourself

2. To find quality time for yourself {and close friends}

3. To be present

My day at The Spa at River Ridge began with changing into the nicest, fluffiest white robe and enjoying a glass of infused water. In just 15 short minutes of entering the spa, checking in and changing, I knew that I was in for a pretty special experience. There’s just something about the atmopshere at The Spa at River Ridge that instantly makes you feel relaxed and at ease. En route to the spa, Jason realized that he left his phone at home, so naturally I offered mine, which allowed me to detach from the device that is seemingly glued to my hand and really be present in the moment. It’s kind of amazing how your awareness and sensitivy heightens when you are not consumed by technology.

First up for me was the house signature facial, which included a deep cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, steam treatment, masque and deep hydration. Oh, I also received a hand and arm massage. I had the pleasure of receiving this serivce from Erin, who has the most gentle hands ever. Although my facial was only 60 minutes, I am convinced that it was longer, as I was in a complete trance of relaxation. You know that good half awake/half asleep feeling…it was pretty epic! I was so sad when she said, “all done.” I could have stayed in that room for the whole day and would have been completely happy!

Next up, was a swedish massage! But first, I enjoyed yet another glass of infused water and some Hershey kisses. Y’all, it was just something about their infused water that I’m obsessed with. I’m going to try and make it this week, because I haven’t stopped thinking about it since two Saturdays ago. Any who, I received a wonderful massage from Amy, who’s been with the company since 1999! I have scoliosos and Amy was incredibly attentive to that and still worked her magic. I specifically told her about the pain I often experience in my lower back and she really focused on that area during our time together. Since visiting, I’m happy to say that I’ve been pain free in the lower back region, which means I defintely need to go more often!

The next stop included a little journey downstairs for a dry style with Emily. I asked for some nice loose waves, since Jason and I were schedueled to have a night out on the town and Emily totally delivered! I’ve pretty much spent the better half of the last two weeks trying to recreate those perfectly tossled waves and have had no success. So, thank you Emily for making me fall in love with a style that I cannot do myself. I guess it means I’ll just have to come and visit you more often, which is totally fine by me : )

And to conclude the day, I was able to enjoy a wonderful lunch, courtsey of Dewey’s Pizza, in the private event suite with a few of my blogger friends! Enjoying a day at the spa with friends made this experience all the more fun. We each had the opportunity to have our own personal relaxation expereiences, while being together! Good times.

If you’re looking for some good quality time for yourself or for yourself and friends, then The Spa at River Ridge most defintely needs to be at the top of your list. I can guarantee that your experience will be professional, personal and relaxing! Just remember to disconnect from technology and really be present in the moment…I promise it makes your relaxation time all the more enjoyable!
